No fewer than 50,000 farmers from the 44 Local Government Areas of Kano State will benefit from agricultural intervention under the Kano COVID-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus (KN CARES) programme in the state.

The head of delivery of the project, Rufa’i Ahmed, said this while addressing journalists in Kano on Monday.

Ahmed said the beneficiaries were selected from 484 communities across the state, adding that the project was aimed at cushioning the aftermath of the pandemic in the state.

He stated that the project was a collaborative effort between the Federal Government, Kano State Government, and the World Bank to assist the small and medium farmers in all the selected communities.

He said the project would provide agricultural inputs and services, agricultural infrastructure, processing and mitigating of food loss and waste to assist the beneficiaries.Ahmed noted that the project would continue to ensure the increase of food security and safe functioning of food supply chains for poor households in Kano State and Nigeria at large.
