Justice Daniel Osiagor of the Federal High Court, Lagos today, convicted a comedian and skit maker, Joshua Sunday, popularly called Dgeneral, for unlawful possession of 14 grams of Tramadol.

Also convicted alongside the 22 years old comedian, is Caleb Ojana William, who was also accused of unlawful possession of 15 grams of Cannabis Sativa, popularly called marijuana.

Justice Osiagor convicted the two men, after they pleaded guilty to one count charge each of unlawful posession of the banned substance, made against them by National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).

NDLEA through its prosecutor, Mr. Jeremiah Aernan and N. J. Manza, said the two convicts had on January 12, 22, at No 2B, Saula Akinlolu Orchid, Lekki, Lagos State, have in their possession the banned substance without lawful authority.

The prosecutor told the court that the offences committed by the convicts is contrary to and punishable under section 11 (c) of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency ACT CAP N30 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.

However, the Convicts counsel, Chief Lilian Omotunde pleaded with the court not to convict the two men, despite thier guilty plea.

Though, the prosecutor urged the court to sentence the two men as prescribed by section 356(2) of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act (ACJA) 2015, having plea guilty to the charge an couple with the fact of the charge as reviewed by the prosecution.

But Justice Osiagor, in his judgment, while pronouncing the two men guilty of the charge against them, declined to sentence them, but cautiouned ‘to go and sin no more’.
