A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos presided over by Honourable Justice Dehinde Dipeolu today granted an exparte application filed by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency,NDLEA, seeking for an order extending the detention of a suspected drug baron, Suleiman Aremu Ganiu ( a.k.a. Barryshine) for another 30 days.

Justice Dipeolu granted the order after hearing counsel to the anti- narcotic agency, Barrister Abu Ibrahim.

In the application, the NDLEA has asked the court for an order to extend the detention of Suleiman Aremu Ganiu ” a.k.a Barryshine” who was taken into custody by the agency on the 26th of August,2024 for the purpose of investigation for another 30 days.

The applicant alleged that Suleiman Aremu Ganiu has been implicated in multiple drug seizures intended for Saudi Arabia and Doha ,United Arab Emirates.

The NDLEA also asked the court for an order extending the detention of SULEIMAN AREMU GANIU a.k.a. ‘Barryshine’ for a period of 30 days in the first instance for the purposes of conducting detailed investigation into his alleged multiple drug trafficking activities and for an order declaring one Oluwafemi Akande Abidoye a.k.a. ‘Igbona’, ‘Murphy’, ‘Femi Iwaya’, ‘Ade Iwaya’, ‘Femi Iwaya’, ‘Baba Eje’, ‘Ejeoto’ who are all presently at large wanted for their involvement in multiple drug trafficking activities with Suleiman Aremu Ganiu a.k.a. ‘Barryshine’

The applicant further urged the court for an order declaring one Olarenwaju Ramon Abdulahi presently at large wanted for his involvement in the drug trafficking activities with Suleiman Aremu Ganiu a.k.a. ‘Barryshine’ with respect to the arrest of Ajisegiri Kehinde Sidika who was arrested at MMIA Ikeja-Lagos during the outward clearance of Qatar Airways flight to Saudi Arabia with 400 grams of Cocaine concealed In foot wears.

According to the affidavit filed in support of the motion exparte, the grounds upon which the application was filed are that Suleiman Aremu Ganiu is being investigated for unlawful exportation of narcotic drugs to Saudi Arabia and Doha, United Arab Emirates.

It was also averred that on the 13th November 2022, one Ajsegiri Kehinde Sidika was arrested at MMIA Ikeja, Lagos during the outward clearance of Qatar Airways flight to Saudi Arabia with 400 grams of Cocaine concealed in foot wears and that in the course of investigation into the arrest of Ajisegiri Kehinde Sidika, Olarenwaju Ramon Abdulahi and Suleiman Aremu Ganiu a.k.a. ‘Barryshine’ were implicated in the said arrest, that one Oluwafemi Akande Abidoye a.k.a. ‘Igbona’, ‘Murphy’, ‘Femi Iwaya’, ‘Ade Iwaya’, ‘Baba Eje’, ‘Ejeoto’ were also implicated as the middle persons between the courier and the duo of Olarenwaju Ramon Abdulahi and SULEIMAN AREMU GANIU a.k.a. ‘Barryshine’ .

The applicant further stated that on the 24 the of November 2022 one Lawal Lateef Oyenuga was arrested at MMIA Ikeja-Lagos during the outward clearance of Ethiopian Airlines flight to Saudi Arabia with 400 grams of Cocaine concealed in foot wears and that in the course of investigation of Lawal Lateef Oyenuga, SULEIMAN AREMU GANIU a.k.a. ‘Barryshine’ was again implicated as the sponsor/financier of the drug trafficking trip.

” That one Oluwafemi Akande Abidoye a.k.a. ‘Igbona’, ‘Murphy’, ‘Femi Iwaya’, ‘Ade Iwaya’, ‘Baba Eje’, ‘Ejeoto’ were also implicated as the middle persons between the courier and SULEIMAN AREMU GANIU a.k.a. ‘Barryshine’.

“That on the 21st June 2024 one Aikhomoun Daniel was also arrested at MMIA Ikeja-Lagos during outward clearance of Qatar Airways flight to Doha with 1.022Kilograms of Cocaine ingested by the suspect, that in the course of investigation into the arrest of Aikhomoun Daniel, Oluwafemi Akande Abidoye a.k.a. ‘Igbona’, ‘Murphy’, ‘Femi Iwaya’, ‘Ade Iwaya’, ‘Baba Eje’, ‘Ejeoto’ and SULEIMAN AREMU GANIU a.k.a. ‘Barryshine’ and were again implicated as the middie persons and the sponsor/financier of the drug trafficking trip respectively.

It was further stated that on the same day of 21st of June 2024 and on the same flight with Aikhomoun Danlel another drug courier by name Ayigoro Waheed Omobolaji was arrested at MMIA Ikeja-Lagos during outward clearance of Qatar Airways flight to Doha with 662Grams of Cocaine ingested by the suspect.

” That in the course of investigation Into the said arrest of Ayigoro Waheed Omobolajl, Oluwafemi Akande Abidoye a.k.a. ‘Igbona’, ‘Murphy’, ‘Femi Iwaya’, ‘Ade Iwaya’, ‘Baba Eje’, ‘Ejeoto’ and SULEIMAN AREMU GANIU a.k.a. ‘Barryshine’ were again implicated as the middie persons and the sponsor/financier of the drug trafficking trip respectively.

The agency said that due to the complexity of this investigation which is being done in conjunction with foreign anti-narcotic agencies,they will require additional time to conclude their investigation.
After listening to Mr Abu Ibrahim , Justice Dehinde Dipeolu granted all this reliefs sought by the anti- narcotic agency.
