Okechukwu Izugha when Arrested By NDLEA
A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos presided over by Justice Dehide Dipeolu today refused the bail application filed by an alleged drug trafficker,  Okechukwu Izugha.
The defendant was yesterday arraigned before justice Dipeolu on one count charge  of dealing in hard drug to which he pleaded not guilty.
Specifically, Okechukwu Izugha was alleged to have on the 21st of January 2025 at number 6, Agbebl Street, ljeshatedo Market Area of Lagos State procured one Maureen Izugha to possess 500Grams of Cocaine.
Following Izugha’s arraignment, he pleaded not guilty to the charge  and his counsel, Barrister Dennis Warri from Chief Benson Ndakara’s Chamber argued his bail application which was vehemently opposed by the prosecutor Mr Abu Ibrahim Ibrahim.
However, Justice Dipeolu differed ruling on the  bail application till today.
Ruling on the bail application today, the trial judge refused to grant the defendant’s request and ordered accelerated trial of the defendant.
Justice Dipeolu  adjourned the case till the September 26, 2025 for trial
The charge against the defendant reads;
That you Okechukwu Izugha  Male, Adult on or about the 21st day of January 2025 at No. 6 Agbebl Street, ljeshatedo Market Area of Lagos State procured one Maureen Izugha to possess 500Grams of Cocaine, a Narcotic Drug and you thereby committed an act which is offence contrary to section 21 (2) (e) and punishable under section
19 of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency Act Cap N 30, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004.
