The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria(FAAN) said it is reviewing the operating procedures for escalators at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport(MMIA), Lagos, to ensure that such sudden mechanical faults do not reoccur again.

FAAN’s review is coming on the heels of the mechanical fault developed by escalators at MMIA, Lagos, one of which injured a passenger few days ago.

FAAN in a statement signed by the Acting General Manager, Corporate Affairs, Mrs. Faithful Hope-Ivbaze said that the agency has taken full responsibility for the incident which occurred at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos on Saturday, September 3, 2022.

The statement further said that FAAN, apart from taking full responsibility for the unfortunate incident, also tender its apology to the family involved.

“Accordingly, we have also reached out to actively participate in the care for the injured.

“FAAN is reviewing the operating procedure for the equipment, to ensure that such sudden mechanical faults do not occur again.

FAAN, she said, is committed to its core values of safety, security and comfort
