In an extraordinary act of generosity, Dr. Oluwakemi Pinheiro (SAN), OFR, the newly appointed Chairman of the Governing Council of Kaduna State Polytechnic, has pledged to donate his entire salary from the institution to support less privileged indigent students at the polytechnic.

In a letter dated September 9th, 2024 addressed to the Rector of the Polytechnic, Dr. Suleiman Umar, Dr. Pinheiro expressed his commitment to ensuring that his salary from the position will be utilized to assist vulnerable indigent students in need of financial aid.

Dr. Pinheiro, who also serves as a prosecutor for the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) and the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), emphasized that he will not accept any sitting or other allowances during his tenure as the leader of the Polytechnic’s Governing Council.

To ensure transparency and proper utilization of the funds, Dr. Pinheiro has requested the institution to provide evidence of the disbursement of the funds to his office.

In his statement, Dr. Pinheiro wrote, “This correspondence serves to confirm to you that allowances for sitting or however, due to me as a Chairman of the 8th Governing Council during my tenure should be utilized for the payment of admission fees or support for the academic fee of any indigent students in my name, and evidence of these payment forwarded to me for my records.”

He further added, “For the records, I humbly state that, I shall not personally collect sitting or allowances during my tenure”.

The Rector of Kaduna State Polytechnic, Dr. Suleiman Umar, commended Dr. Pinheiro for his selfless act and his dedication to uplifting less privileged students. This generous gesture is expected to provide much-needed financial relief to many deserving students and contribute to their academic success.

Dr. Pinheiro’s commitment to supporting education and empowering the less privileged is truly inspiring and sets an excellent example for leaders in academia and beyond. His act of kindness will undoubtedly have a lasting impact on the lives of the students who will benefit from his generosity.
