Chief Oluwasegun Sotinwa Atobatele and Baale Nojeem Sotinwa Atobatele of Soomo community in Sagamu Local Government area of Ogun State has petitioned Oba Babatunde Ajayi the paramount ruler and the Akarigbo of Remoland cautioning against the installation of one Chief Olatunji Solaja

The petition was contain in a letter tittled ‘ Anticipated Installation Of Chief Olatunji Solaja In violation Of Subsisting/ Pending Suit No: HCS/683/2022 Between ( 1 ) Chief Oluwasegun Sotinwa Atobatele & (1) Other Vs Chief Olatunji Solaja, HRM. Oba Babatunde Ajayi & (3) Others.

The petition dated 18th September, 2023 was written by the law farm of Adebayo Ajayi & Co, counsel to the petitioner and address to His Royal Majesty , Oba Babatunde Ajayi , the Akarigbo of Remoland.

The letter reads: We are the Solicitors retained by Chief Oluwasegun Sotinwa Atobatele and Baale Nojeem Sotinwa Atobatele (hereinafter called “our clients”) regarding the above captioned matter.

” We have been consulted and our services retained to refer and warn against the anticipated installation of Chief Olatunji Solaja as the Olu of Soomo against the rightful and substantive Baale Nojeem Sotinwa Atobatele ”

The petitioners stated that the erstwhile Baale of Soomo, Chief Olatunji Solaja had his appointment terminated by the Ewusi in-Council on the 17° February, 2016 and in his place, Chief Nojeem Adekunle Sotinwa Atobatele was conferred with the Chieftaincy title of Baale Soomo by the prescribed authority of HRM Oba T. A. Akinsaya , the Ewusi Makun.

The letter further alleged that in-spite of the above, Chief Olatunji Solaja kept on parading himself as the Baale Of Soomo in defiance to the pronouncement and position of the Prescribed Authority of Ewusi Makun, a conduct which has continued to generated acrimony and tension within Soomo Community. ‘

The petitioner’s lawyer added that his clients being law abiding and peace loving indigenes of Soomo Community instituted Suit No: HCS/683/2022 (Copies of Writ of Summons and Motion on Notice for Interlocutory Injunction dated 23rd December, 2022 .

“With maximum respect Kabiyesi, it is our resolve that parties maintain status quo as any attempt to install Chief Olatunji Solaja as Olu or Oba of Soomo would amount to a gross violation of the pending court proceedings which has been adjourned till October 4, 2023,” the petition stated
