The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, has arraigned three men, before the Federal High Court, Lagos for allegedly trafficking in 32 and half bags of Cannabis Sativa, otherwise called marijuana.
The three defendants who were said to have been found with the banned substance are, Eze Joy Chioma, Female, 27, Eze Ifeanyi Remigius and Oroke Michael Chibueze
Arraigning the three defendants over the weekend, NDLEA prosecutor, Mr Umar Husseini told Justice T.G Ringing that the prosecution has a three count charge before the court and urged the court to allow the charge be read to the defendants so that they can take thier plea.
Following the reading of the charge and the defendants plea of not guilty, the prosecutor, Umar Husseini urged the court to fix a trial date and to direct that the defendants be remanded in custody pending trial.
However, counsel to the defendants, Mr Dennis Warri, told Justice T.G. Ringim, that he has a bail application filed on behalf of the defendants and urged the court to allow him move same. The court graciously granted his request.
After moving his bail application and the prosecusion reply to same, Justice Ringim adjourned further hearing in the matter till March 10th when ruling on the bail application would be delivered.
The three counts charge against the defendants read this;
Count 1 That You, Eze Joy Chioma Female, 27 years , Eze Ifeanyi Remigius and others now at large on or about the 17th day December, 2021, at about 1500 hours, at No 2 Oluokun street, White house Bus Stop, Off Abule Aka Road, Okokomaiko, Lagos State, within the Jurisdiction of this Honourable Court without lawful authority was found in possession of 32 and half bags of Cannabis Sativa otherwise called ‘igbo‘ a narcotic drug similar to Cocaine, Heroin and LSD concealed inside your kitchen and rooms, thereby commited an offence Contrary to and punishable under Section 20 (c) of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency Act, Cap N30 Laws of the Federation of Nigerian 2004.
Count 2
That You, Oroke Michael Chibueze, Male, 21 years, and others now at large on or about the 17th day December 2021, at about 1100 hours, at back of ST Patrich’s Cathedral Church Alaba, near Okokomaiko, Lagos State within the jurisdiction of this honourable Court without lawful authority transported cartons of Cannabis Sativa (otherwise called ‘igbo’ a narcotic drug similar to Cocaine, Heroin and LSD concealed inside your Keke NAPEP tricycle, thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 25 (i) and (iii) of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency Act, Cap 020 Laws of the federation of teigertan 2006,

‘That You, Eze Joy Chioma, Female, 27 years , Eze Ifeanyi Remigius and others now at large on or about the 17th day Decernber 2021, st about 1500 hours, at No. 2 Oluokun street, White house Bus Stop Of Abule Aka Road, Okokomaiko, Lagos State, within the jurisdiction of this Honourebie Court, without lawful authority being the occupiers af the above abode permitted the storage of 32 and half bags of Cannabis Sativa and the use of your abode for the storage of ‘Cannabis sativa (otherwise called ‘igbo) a narcotic drug similar to Cocaine, Heroin and LSO, concealed inside your kitchen and rooms, thereby committing an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 12 of the National Drug Law Enforcernent Agency Act, Cap M30 Laws of the Federation of Nigerian 2004.
