The Department of State Services (DSS) has condemned the reactions that trailed the arrest of the negotiator between the Federal Government and terrorists who abducted passengers from the Abuja-Kaduna train on March 28, Tukur Mamu, saying the agency’s investigations on him remain “mind-boggling”.
The DSS, on Wednesday, arrested Mamu, who is the spokesperson of the Kaduna-based cleric, Sheikh Gumi, in Kano State.
He was earlier arrested at the Cairo International Airport in Egypt while awaiting a connecting flight to Saudi Arabia.
Mamu was later flown back to Nigeria by Interpol on Wednesday and was arrested alongside his family members by the DSS operatives at the international wing of the Aminu Kano International Airport in Kano.
The agency later said its operatives recovered incriminating materials after searching the residence of Mamu in Kaduna State.
However, the DSS, in a statement issued on Sunday by its spokesperson, Peter Afunanya, said the Service “wishes that it is not distracted with some of the skewed narratives pervading the media space.
“Instead, it requests to be left alone to concentrate on the ongoing investigations, the outcomes of which have remained mind-boggling.
“Meanwhile, the Service will cease further comments on the subject matter since the court will determine its course.
“Consequently, the public is hereby enjoined to desist from making unguarded utterances and await the court proceedings,” the statement read.
