Police Arraign 31 Years Old Man Over Cybercrime
Justice. Ibrahim Kala of the Federal High Court, Lagos yesterday ordered the remand of a 31 years old man, Olamide Felix at the Ikoyi Correctional Centre, Lagos following his arrangement by the police on a three count charge of alleged cyber crime.
According to the charge filed by Mr A. O. Nwabuisi an Assistant Superintendent of Police attached to the Lagos State Police Command, Olamide Felix was alleged to have on the 4th of July 2025 at Imosi Jesu Street, Idimu, Lagos, did knowingly and intentionally send a message by means of a computer system through his Facebook and WhatsApp Messenger with thousands of viewers, exposing the nude photographs of one Olajumoke Oni (“F”), whom he took to a private hotel and re-sent same to her Messenger platform with demand to have further continuous sexual intercourse with her anytime he flashed her with the said nude pictures.
When the matter came up for arraignment before Justice Ibrahim Kala yesterday, the prosecutor Mr A.O Nwabuisi informed the trial court that he has a three counts charge pending before the court and urged the court to order that the charge be read so that the defendant could take his plea.
The charge was then read and the defendant pleaded not guilty to the three counts charge.
Following the defendant not guilty plea, the Nwabuisi asked the court for a trial date and the remand of Olamide in the custody of the Nigeria Correctional Centre.
After listening to the prosecutor and in the absence of opposition to the application by counsel to the defendant, Justice Kala ordered the remand of the defendant in the custody of the Nigeria Correctional Centre, Ikoyi Lagos and adjourned the matter till November 17, 2025.
The charge against the defendant reads:
Count I
That you, Olamide Felix (“M”), on or before the 4th day of July 2025, at Imosi Jesu Street, Idimu, Lagos, within the Judicial Division of the Federal High Court of Nigeria, did knowingly and intentionally send a message by means of a computer system through your Facebook and WhatsApp Messenger with thousands of viewers, exposing the nude photographs of one Olajumoke Oni (“F”), whom you took to a private hotel without her consent, and re-sent same to her Messenger with threats of having further continuous sexual intercourse with her anytime you flashed her with the said nude pictures and you thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 24(1) and punishable under Section 24(1)(i) of the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act (as amended) 2024.
Count II
That you, Olamide Felix (“M”), on or before the 4th day of July 2025, at Imosi Jesu Street, Idimu, Lagos, within the Judicial Division of the Federal High Court of Nigeria, did knowingly and intentionally send a message by means of a computer system through your Facebook and WhatsApp Messenger with thousands of viewers, exposing the nude photographs of one Olajumoke Oni (“F”), whom you took to a private hotel without her consent, and re-sent same to her Messenger with continuous threats to have sexual intercourse with her, and further extorted the sum of ₦250,000.00 from her at different intervals anytime you flashed her with the nude pictures and you thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 24(1) and punishable under Section 24(1)(ii) of the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act (as amended) 2024.
Count III
That you, Olamide Felix (“M”), on or before the 4th day of July 2025, at Imosi Jesu Street, Idimu, Lagos, within the Judicial Division of the Federal High Court of Nigeria, did knowingly and intentionally send a message by means of a computer system through your Facebook and WhatsApp Messenger with thousands of viewers, exposing the nude photographs of one Olajumoke Oni (“F”), whom you took to a private hotel without her consent, and re-sent same to her Messenger, and further showed members of the street/public the said nude pictures, threatening to continue to sexually assault her in that private hotel room while keeping the nude pictures saved in your memory card and you thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 24(1) and punishable under Section 24(1)(ii) of the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act (as amended) 2024.
