The United States Government has granted the appeal of popular internet fraudster, Ramon Abbas, fondly called Hushpuppi, to reduce his jail term to 11 years.

This comes after Hushpuppi appealed to US Judge, Otis Wright, to temper justice with mercy and a lighter jail term after scoring high in cleaning activities while in prison.

He was said to have been one of the best cleaners in the prison where he has been remanded since his arrest in 2021.

It was gathered that his report card for Central Valley workshop for prisoners showed that, between July 2021 when he enrolled and November 2021 when he completed work, Hushpuppi put up “very good” in attitude, quality of work, dependability, and productivity.

The United States Attorney’s Office for Central District of California, Los Angeles, had said Hushpuppi will be sentenced on September 21, 2022, for alleged $1.1m fraud.

He was initially scheduled for sentencing on February 14 but it was moved to July 11 before it was postponed to September 21, 2022.

It would be recalled that Hushpuppi is facing criminal charges in the United States for conspiracy to launder money obtained from business email compromise frauds and other scams.

The scams include schemes that defrauded a US law firm of about $40 million.

He was alleged to have illegally transferred $14.7 million from a foreign financial institution and targeted to steal $124 million from an English football club.

Hushpuppi was later arrested by the Dubai Police in June 2020 before he was extradited to the United State.
